Become an Advocate
The Georgia Mentoring Partnership (GMP) has joined MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership in an effort to increase the advocacy efforts of mentoring supporters nationwide. We all know that mentoring works! While progress in the field has been made, we realize that there is more work to be done to help Georgia’s 1.6 million children between the ages of 5 and 18 become productive citizens. With the Mentoring Advocacy Toolkit, we aim to provide you with a tool to help you understand the positive impact of mentoring and learn how you can make a difference by communicating with your legislators. In it you will find information that will assist you in successfully educating your legislators about mentoring, including tips on scheduling a legislative visit, a sample letter to a legislator, and the mentoring advocacy commitment form. In addition, we provide you with online advocacy resources as well as a definition of legislative terms. We invite you to join a network of responsible, concerned citizens in the effort to ensure that Georgia’s next generation has even greater opportunity than the last. Sign up using the electronic form below. YES! I am a strong believer in the benefits of mentoring for young people in Georgia and across the nation! I would like to register with the Georgia Mentoring Partnership as a mentor advocate and join a national network of mentoring advocates for children! To the best of my ability, I agree to educate my legislators on the importance of mentoring. I understand that by registering, I agree to be contacted by the Georgia Mentoring Partnership or by MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership to be called to action in support of young people. |
